Frequently Asked Questions
How Do I Book?
Every booking and inquiry starts with a consultation—either via phone or video. This allows us to connect directly, ask questions, and confirm pricing and availability. Once we agree on the details, I will draft a contract for both parties and send an invoice for the deposit to secure your booking. After the contract is signed and the deposit is paid, your reservation is fully confirmed!
I Have a Very Specific Vision for My Painting—How Can I Be Sure You Will Achieve It?
I will always be completely transparent about my capabilities. If there's a specific style you desire and I don't feel I'm the right artist for that vision, I will gladly recommend someone who might be better suited. However, I also love a challenge; if I believe I can bring your dream painting to life, I will dedicate myself to making it perfect!
I Want to Book You as a Gift for the Bride and Groom—How Does This Work?
Booking an artist as a surprise for the couple is quite common. However, it requires more planning than one might expect, as the venue and wedding coordinators need to be informed that I am a supplier well in advance. Each surprise is unique, so we will discuss during the consultation when you plan to reveal the surprise and how the day will unfold.
How Long Does the Painting Process Take?
I usually arrive 2 to 3 hours before guests to set up and begin sketching the background. I will continue to paint live for approximately 5 to 8 hours during your event, but this schedule is flexible and can be tailored to what works best for the couple's day!
Will the Painting Be Finished on the Wedding Night?
Typically, no. My goal is to capture the composition, venue, and key elements live for guests to witness the magic unfold. I will take the canvas back to my studio after the wedding to refine the details and adjust the lighting, which can take anywhere from 3 to 6 weeks for the final piece to be completed. I will stay in touch regularly after the wedding and can provide a preview of the painting for your approval before it is varnished and shipped—or the finished piece can be a delightful surprise!
When Are Reference Photos Taken?
Before the wedding, we will agree on the key moments you want painted! I will usually take reference photographs during these important moments, as previously discussed. I will coordinate with the photographer on the day to ensure I'm not obstructing their shots. If the couple wishes to approve the reference image during the event, that is perfectly fine. This also allows me to paint realistic faces without requiring anyone to stand still for extended periods.
Can you add Deceased Loved Ones or Pets?
Yes, this option is available. Using a photograph, I can seamlessly include a family member or pet who couldn't physically attend, making it appear as though they were present on your special day. Please refer to the add-ons section of the live wedding painting page for more information.
What Do We Need to Provide the Artist?
I typically need a small space for the easel (usually around 5x5 feet) and access to good lighting. If suitable lighting isn’t available, I can bring my own as long as the area has access to a power socket. Additionally, a vendor meal is sometimes provided during the reception.
